March 2-4. Texas Ballet Theater presents Henry VIII and Seven Sonatas. Henry VIII: Divorced. Beheaded. Died. Divorced. Beheaded. Survived. March 3. Dark Circles Dance Company presents 3 New Creations. Dark Circles Dance Company will present a workshop production of Founder and Artistic Director Joshua L. Peugh’s new interpretation of pansori Sugungga (수궁가), based on an ancient Korean folktale about The Dragon King, a turtle, and a rabbit. Los Angeles-based pansori singer June Lee provides live music for the work. The program will also feature a newly commissioned creation choreographed by guest artist and winner of the Princess Grace Award for Choreography, Gabrielle Lamb. A brand-new score for the work has been commissioned from composer and SMU Meadows School of the Arts alumnus Brandon Carson. The program concludes with another new creation by Peugh influenced by street art and a recent visit to the city of Detroit. Carson has been commissioned to create the music. March 9-10. TITAS Presents Lucky Plush Productions. A group of washed-up super heroes join forces to create a nonprofit think tank but get caught up in the politics of branding and group dynamics. Fighting evil ain’t what it used to be. This is the basis for Trip the Light Fantastic: The Making of SuperStripLucky Plush’s newest creation. Funny, smart and thought provoking, Lucky Plush is a breath of fresh air in the dance world. They’re going to quickly become a TITAS favorite! March 17-18. Dallas Neo-Classical Ballet presents Cosmic Fiction. Cosmic Fiction is a new collection of works inspired by sci-fi literature and film. The program features live music by SMU’s SYZYGY, a new original composition by Lane Harder and visuals by Emmy award-winning filmmaker Dutch Rall. Choreographers Adrian Aguirre, Erin Boone and Emilie Skinner will be among those presenting.
