November 25-26. LakeCitites Ballet Company presents Nutcracker. LakeCities Ballet Theatre performs its holiday classic, "The Nutcracker", on November 25th and 26th at Lake Dallas High School, Corinth, Texas.  The Nutcracker is a favorite seasonal ballet of wonder and magic with music composed in 1891 by Pyotr Illych Tchaikovsky. The ballet is performed in two acts, with an opening scene that takes us to a Victorian era party hosted by the well-to-do Mayor Silberhaus and his family.  Guests arrive bearing gifts, while children dance and play among the party festivities.  The mayor’s young daughter, Clara, played by LBT member Morgan Holloway, is soon enchanted by her mysterious Godfather, Drosselmeyer, played by our very special returning guest artist and former London Festival Ballet Principal Artist, Kenn Wells, who bestows her with the gift of a nutcracker. This simple gift will soon trigger a fanciful flight into a magical dream world as Scene Two introduces the audience to the Nutcracker Prince, played by LBT member Trevin Ralphs.  A frenzied battle ensues as the evil Mouse King, played by Robert Stewart, and his minion mice engage the Nutcracker Prince and his band of toy soldiers. Clara and her new found prince escape harm and travel through a magical snow laden landscape of dancing fairies where they dance a beautiful snow pas, as Act I comes to a close. Act II’s opening scene reveals beautiful Guardian Angels keeping watch over delicate tiny angels and cherubs, as they glide across the stage in anticipation of the arrival of Clara and her charming prince.  Scene Two of this second act gives the audience a true holiday treat as the Sugarplum Fairy, Sarah Lane, with American Ballet Theatre and her Cavalier, danced by Daniel Ulbricht, with New York City Ballet, NY, dazzle Clara with unparalleled grace and power.  The Land of Sweets is filled with dance and delight as Clara is treated to performances by dancers from all around the globe.  The Sugarplum Fairy helps Clara find her way home with a warm embrace and a fond adieu, as the dancers all bid her farewell and sweet dreams.  The magical story closes as the Nutcracker Prince delivers Clara to the safety of her own bed and gives her a final salute, a promise that he will be ever watchful.  Marvel at the wondrous staging and flawless choreography of Kelly Kilburn Lannin. You won’t want to miss it! November 25 at 7:30 PM and November 26 at 2 PM | $25-$45 | Lake Dallas High School, 3016 Parkridge Dr., Corinth, TX 76210 |http://www.lakecitiesballet.org/performances | www.lakecitiesballet.org
