Mary Warner
May 8, 1928 - January 20, 2010

"Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but rather by the moments that take your breath away."

Mary Warner videotaped everything and everyone. Her archives are at Dallas Public Library, the history of our community.
As a founding board member of Dallas Cable Access Television (subsequent names: Dallas Community TV and iMedia),
Mary filmed Dallas City Council meetings, committee meetings and lectures from out-of-town guests.
She would relentlessly seek permission so that she and her crew would be able to videotape every dance concert
and recital that she could attend.

In 1998, Dance Council recognized Mary for her extraordinary service to the dance community.
Subsequently the Mary Warner Award has been awarded to people who make dance happen.

Born in Amarillo, Mary lived in South America, lived in Oak Cliff for over fifty years, was the first female certified
soccer referee in the country, loved her dogs and was a belly dancer.

Mary donated her body to UT Southwestern as did her husband, Bert, when he died in 2007.
Her family is planning a Celebration of her Life in the future.

The family recognizes Mary's dedication to Dance Council of North Texas and requests that contributions
be made to DCNT in memory of Mary.

When Dallas City Council honored Mary Warner with Special Recognition for her Lifetime Contribution
to the City of Dallas, Mayor Laura Miller said as part of the presentation,

"Mary, everyone in this room is replaceable... except you."

Joe Warner and Donna Johnson-Warner, Mary's son & daughter-in-law, have created a website: www.lifememorial.com. On top right, write Mary Warner in the Search box. Also an obituary was in Friday's issue The Dallas Morning News, Metro section.
